funky faith friday

Here are a few things that I believing God for:

1. Our next Prayer Event will be tomorrow, Saturday the 20th. We will be praying at Joliet West H.S. at 9am and then we will go down to Joliet Central H.S. at 10am. It will be great to pray for our students, their teachers and administrators.

2. I am believing for many doors to be opened so that we can make a major impact on the city of Joliet. There has been way too many shootings/deaths in our city over the last few months. It is time to show the love of Christ in the streets.

3. Lastly, I am believing that people of all colors and nationalities will come together in Joliet to show the world what heaven really looks like. Could you be 1 of them?

what are you looking for?

Expectation can be defined as a confident belief or strong hope that a particular event will happen.

I believe that one of the main reasons that miracles don’t happen is because we don’t expect them to.

God is wanting to do much more than we can even imagine.

The man in Acts 3 who was crippled didn’t expect to get healed.
He just wanted a temporary fix but God had more in store for him.

I believe that the expectation level in Joliet is very low.
Some people are relaxing in their comfort zone while others don’t believe that anything will ever change.

Don’t let fear, low levels of faith, or doubt keep your expectations in a box.
Dare to take God at His word!

I am crazy enough to believe that people of all colors and nationalities will come together as a community of believers connecting people to a life in Christ where anything is possible!

weekend review

This past weekend was amazing!
Here are a few of my observations:

  • Our Prayer Initiative in Hartman Park was great.
  • It was good to be in the middle of a park that is in the middle of a neighborhood.
  • It’s interesting to see who is awake at 8am on a Saturday morning.
  • Our city has a long way to go in the area of race relations.
  • The presence of God was with us from the beginning.

I can’t wait to see what happens this coming Saturday at the high schools.
We will be praying at both schools, Joliet West at 9am and Joliet Central at 10am.

God is up to something in Joliet!

Here are a few things that I am believing God for:

1. Our next Prayer Initiative will be tomorrow, Saturday the 13th at Hartman Park in Joliet. We will be coming together to pray against the violence and crime in our city. We will also be seeking God for answers and wisdom to bring peace and prosperity. We are looking for a cross-section of people of different races and religious affiliation.

2. On the race tip, I am believing God for bringing together people of different ethnicities for the sake of the Gospel. Why is it that we can shop, go to school, hang out with people of another color, but we can’t worship God together?

3. In the coming months there are going to be some bold moves that will be necessary. I am believing for some crazy obedience followed by some crazy miracles. Stay tuned….

“They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.”
Psalm 145:7

Today is a day to celebrate.
It is a brand new occasion to feel good and to expect great things.
In spite of the challenges that you will face today, take some time out to celebrate.

You may celebrate by wearing that favorite outfit that you have in your closet.
You also may celebrate by playing that song that makes you want to dance whenever you hear it.

Whatever you need to do to enjoy this day, you need to do it.

God has created this moment in time for you not to be depressed and blue, but to rejoice at the fact that you were given another day on this earth.
Don’t take for granted this opportunity.
Don’t let situations and circumstances keep you from celebrating.
Don’t let people overwhelm you with their problems.

Choose to celebrate.
Choose to make yourself happy.
Choose to live.

Father, thank you for giving me many reasons to celebrate. Thank You for being able to look in the mirror and see the wonderful person that you have created. Help me to show others that they also have a reason to celebrate. As I go forward into my day, help me to remember that this and every day, should be celebrated. I rejoice in Your love and kindness toward me. Amen.

7 Acts to make an Impact (Unity)

The Act of Unity

“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus.” (Romans 15:5)

In spite of the differences we have in race, age, sex, income, and denomination, we all need to come together.

Everyone’s perspective is needed if we are going to advance the kingdom of God on the earth.

No one church or group of people have all the answers.

No one has a lock on what God is doing.

Unity is not being the same, but having the same goal.

There should never be any discrimination or prejudice in the body of Christ.

Unfortunately, people do a lot of spiritual profiling. They make judgements on someone else’s spirituality based on the way they dress or what church they attend.

The call of Christ should bring us together but traditions and religion keep us apart.

get your faith off life support

After being a Christian for more than half of my life, I have realized something;

The devil loves silent, motionless Christians

I don’t believe that God intended us to have a relationship with Him confined in some cave in the middle of the desert.
Some of us are living like we are scared to LIVE.

Every believer has faith.
What you do with it is up to you.

In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. (James 2:17)

Don’t waste your life by not exercising your faith.
Like a muscle it needs to be challenged and stretched to its limits.
Jesus, our personal trainer, is standing by to encourage us.
Let’s GO!

7 Acts to make an Impact

THE ACT OF COURAGE

Courage is defined as mental or moral strength.

I believe that the courage that a follower of Christ has comes from faith in God and it is inspired by the Holy Spirit.

It takes a certain strength and courage to make an impact.

Nehemiah felt the burden to rebuild the walls.
He had a determination and he had to endure much criticism to accomplish his task.

It is going to take some daring and guts to make an IMPACT in our community.

When you go against the flow, you have to have the nerve to believe that God can do anything.

In Ezekiel 2, Ezekiel got sent to preach to the Israelites in Babylon.
These people were stubborn and difficult, but he went anyway.

For too long we have been comfortable sitting on the fence.
It has been too easy for us to curl up in our easy chairs of tradition.

When anything or anybody demands loyalty that doesn’t honor God, you need to stand your ground.

Those who are courageous will take the lead in making an IMPACT for the Lord.

Daniel, Esther, Ruth, Joshua, David, Paul…..Jesus
these are great examples of courageous people.

Where is your name?

jumpstart 8/1

“Am I my brothers keeper?”
Genesis 4:9

As we go about our daily tasks it’s easy to think that we are on an island.
We rush from one appointment to the next, consumed with our own agendas.

We have to look out for ourselves.
If we don’t, who will?

God never intended for us to live out lives alone.
He created us with a strong need to be on a team.

Whether your team is in an office, on a field, or in a church, God made us for relationships.
The stronger our relationships, the more success we will achieve in life.

“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.”
Henry Ford

We need each other for our lives to be as successful as God intended them to be.

Father, help us to work together as a team. We long to be ONE family, representing You to the entire world. Our unity and concern for each other should be a reflection of Your love for us.
You have given us an important assignment. We trust that your Spirit will be with us to guide and direct. Thank You for the victories.
Amen.

Here are a few things that I am believing God for:

1. We are holding our next Prayer Initiative on Saturday, August 13th at Hartman Park on the eastside of Joliet. I am looking for a big turnout of people of different ethnic backgrounds, economic statuses, ages, etc. Our city has been hit with a rash of violence this summer and it will be awesome to see people lay aside differences and come together.

2. Looking to do an outdoor community event in the Parkwood area of Joliet sometime in either late August or September. Praying for resources, finances, and volunteers.

3. I am amp’d about what God is going to do in our city. Some people have given up on us but i am crazy enough to believe God.
