MEN: 4 a Change

One of the things that God has put in me to do on my time here on this planet is encourage men.

Far too often I have seen men being pushed to the background due to their own failures, because of others opinions, and others expectations.
Sure, there are plenty of examples of men intentionally doing some ridiculous things.

Instead of just complaining and pointing out the obvious, I want to see what the word of God says and how it can be applied to encourage, empower, and set men free to bring glory to God.

Look for some posts and information about how we can be

MEN: 4 a Change

sad week

It’s been a crazy week.
It actually started off at the end of last week when I got the news that my former pastor, Dr. Isaac Singleton, Sr., passed away.

This was the man who licensed and ordained me into the ministry.
He gave me my first chance to preach in front of people.
He gave me lots of advice (the kind that you want and DON’T want to hear).
He was a great model to follow after.
He is still considered a legend in the civil rights arena.
He LOVED people.
He LOVED to laugh.

He will be missed by so many people.

Love you, Pastor

7 Acts to Make an Impact (pt. 6 & 7)

PATIENCE
COURAGE
KINDNESS
UNDERSTANDING
TRUTHFULNESS

I am going to squeeze the last 2 Acts in today:

The Act of Unity

“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus”
(Romans 15:5)

In spite of our differences in color, age, sex, income and denomination, we all need to come together.
Everyone’s perspective is needed.

Contrary to popular opinion, no one has all the answers.

All of the subtle discriminatory actions should cease immediately.
No more “spiritual profiling”.

Unity is not about being the same.
It’s about having the same goal.

The call of Christ should bring us together.
Our Unity will give us strength.

The Act of Love

Love is the deciding element in making an Impact

Everything that we do should be motivated by Love.
We should give Love without reserve.
After all, we serve a God who is love personified.

Love isn’t about us, it’s about someone else.
People in our communities are crying out for someone to love them.
We have been given this precious gift to share with others.

If we set aside our desires we can love like God wants us to.

Today’s topic:

The Act of Patience

“Better a patient man than a warrior…” (Proverbs 16:32)

We live in a world that is fast-paced.
We can get most anything at the blink of an eye.

Coffee, food, and information are all available at the push of a button.

Unfortunately, with all of this instant gratification there is a shortage of one thing:

Patience

Habits, thoughts, and lifestyles built up over the course of a lifetime are difficult to change quickly.

I will take time but what makes it better is when people take the time to get to know each other and allow mutual respect to develop.

7 Acts to Make an Impact (pt. 4)

KINDNESS
UNDERSTANDING
TRUTHFULNESS

Today’s topic:

The ACT of COURAGE

It takes a certain kind and amount of courage to make an IMPACT in this world.
It is going to take some daring and guts to do what God has called you to do.

You have to be willing to stand out from the crowd and sometimes look like a fool.
When you go against the flow, you need to have enough nerve to believe that God can do anything!

Biblical examples of courageous people:
Ezekiel
Daniel
3 Hebrew boys

For far too long we have been comfortable in our E-Z chairs of tradition and mediocrity.

Those who are courageous will take the lead in making an IMPACT

7 Acts to Make an Impact (pt. 3)

Kindness

Understanding

Today’s topic is

Truthfulness

The truth is hard to find these days.
It seems like its a lot easier and more acceptable to bend the truth a little bit.

Telling the truth is actually liberating (John 8:32)

To be willing to share the truth concerning our feelings can be scary, but it is often necessary.
We sometimes need to be vulnerable and straightforward about ourselves.

By making room for others to be honest and being honest ourselves, we can make a real impact.

We should have relationships that are built on trust and pure motives.
Our word should be our bond.

7 Acts to make an Impact! (pt. 2)

Yesterday we talked about:

The Act of Kindness

Todays topic is

The Act of Understanding

We are not all the same.

We are from different backgrounds, have different experiences, have different tastes.
We are not all the same age, sex, or nationality.

We should take the time to listen to each other (James 1:19).

We should make every effort to understand others opinions and thoughts.
We should seek to appreciate the diversity of our communities.

In our understanding we should be considerate of the fragile background that people come from.

Above all, we should look to create environments where people genuinely care and are looking to share their lives with each other.

7 Acts to Make an Impact! (pt. 1)

“If you think you’re too small to make a difference, you’ve never been to bed with a mosquito.” ~ Anita Roddick

Far too often people live their lives in such a way that they don’t even come close to what their potential is.
They get comfortable in what they have.
They never strive for anything more than just to maintain.

I believe that we were made to impact the word around us.
God has given us so much and yet He has even more for us to accomplish.

This week I am going to be talking about:

7 Acts to Make an Impact!

The Act of Kindness

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
Ephesians 4:32

We should always be willing to show kindness and compassion to ALL people.
It has nothing to do with color or nationality.
We should take into consideration the kindness that God has shown us.
He showed us kindness even when we didn’t appreciate it.

We even should show kindness to our enemies (Luke 6:27).

There are many hurting people who need a touch from the hands of God’s people.
We should be willing to help them without expecting anything in return.

Don’t let hatred and bitterness take root in your heart.
Let kindness be your calling card and watch God open the door to hearts of the people you meet.

i believe

I am believing that God is going to shake things up.
He has placed us on this earth for so much more than just existing.

I am focused and poised to make a difference in the lives of people that I come across.

My life is not complete unless I see my family, friends, and everyone else experience the life that God intended.

Even if I have a few bumps along the way, I won’t stop until my destiny is fulfilled.

the gap

It is estimated that 60% of the residents of my county don’t have a personal relationship with God.
That would equal roughly 420,000 people.

People need to know that God cares about them, right where they are.
They need to know that He is concerned about their everyday lives, not just about getting them to heaven.
They need to know that they are here on this earth for a great purpose.

There has become a great disconnect between God and His creation.

It’s time to bridge the gap.
